The Doctor of Management Program is pleased to celebrate our 17th year in providing a professional doctorate for those experienced professionals who wanted to take their career, knowledge and skills to that next level—the ultimate level that a doctorate degree signifies.
Our scholar-practitioner approach to doctoral education continues to be recognized around the world and the growth of professional doctorates, especially in the business and management area, led to the development a professional association of scholar-practitioner programs. Starting in 2011 with a handful of school, the Executive Doctorate of Business Administration Council (EDBAC) now has over 40 member schools worldwide (http://www.executivedba.org).
The Doctoral Programs’ role in this professional doctorate movement was recognized when we hosted the 5th Engaged Management Scholarship (EMS) conference in Baltimore (September 10-13, 2015). The Doctoral Programs faculty and staff were successful in the 18 months planning process. The 5th annual EMS conference was the largest conference to date for EDBAC with 156 registered attendees. The next EMS conference will be held in Tampa, Florida (September 7-10, 2017). Further details are available at: http://ems2017tampa.org/.
The Doctoral Exchange continues to build an interactive community among our practitioner-scholars. Please share your professional, academic or personal achievements and how we can connect you to others and to our faculty. We can be reached by email at doctoralgrads@umuc.edu and look forward to hearing from you soon.
