Did you know you are part of an international community of professional doctorates? These degrees have a variety of names, such as Doctor of Management, Doctor of Business Administration and Executive DBA. Our DM program, established in 2000, was an early pioneer.
Today, over 35 schools are members of the Executive DBA Council (EDBAC). UMUC has been a member since 2012. One of our DM faculty, Tom Mierzwa, is on the EDBAC Board. It was formed in 2010 to foster excellence and innovation in executive doctoral degree programs worldwide. Founding members include Case Western Reserve University, Georgia State University, Cranfield University, and Paris Dauphine University. Current members are schools from the U.S., Europe, Australia, China, and South America. The council's website has further information: http://www.executivedba.org/
One feature of EDBAC that may be of particular interest is the annual Engaged Management Scholarship conference (http://www.executivedba.org/ conferences/). The EMS conference provides opportunities for paper presentations, panel discussions and workshops that develop scholar-practitioner competencies –of course—networking! Dr. Mierzwa also served on the EMS conference organization committees. He can be reached at tom.mierzwa@faculty.umuc.edu. For our l5th anniversary, the EMS conference was hosted by UMUC/DM at The Hyatt Regency in Baltimore from September 10-13, 2015. The 2018 annual EMS Conference will be held from September 6 - 9, 2018 in Philadelphia, PA at Temple University a member of the EDBAC Council. We hope to see you there.
