Mark De Jong, DM'14
In March 2014, Mark De Jong accepted a new position as Head of the Collection Access Section of the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The NLM is the premier medical library in the world, and it’s on the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda, Md. Dr. De Jong's responsibilities are very similar to the ones he held at UMUC’s Library, but on a much larger scale –"the volume is almost three times as much", and his budget went from $250,000 to $1,000,000. His dissertation title is “Personal Characteristics of Leadership Effectiveness: Exploring the Ideal Set of Traits for Senior Academic Administrators Challenged with Leading a Modern Higher Education Institution”.
